Julie Waechter is the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Program Officer. She supports the continuous evaluation and improvement of Lifewater’s programs around the globe through data analysis and capacity building. She is also responsible for the creation and execution of Lifewater’s curriculum and trainings for field staff and community leaders in Africa and Asia. Julie has served with Lifewater in numerous capacities since she began with Lifewater 2008, including as Volunteer Coordinator, Project Management, Curriculum and Training Specialist. Her commitment to bringing about justice and peace for vulnerable people suffering from lack of safe water, sanitation, and hygiene has led Julie to the far corners of the world in training WASH professionals in Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Julie has a B.A. in International Relations from the University of California, Davis, and she is pursuing a M.A. in International Relations with a concentration in International Development from American University.

Sopheak Im joined the Lifewater team in August 2015 to establish Lifewater programs in Cambodia. He is passionate about holistic, transformational community development, especially focused on the well-being of children. Sopheak holds a B.A. in English with a major in interpretation and translation and an MDM (Master of Management Development) in NGO Management. He has over 14 years of community development experience working with rural families and vulnerable children in Cambodia, including 7 years of working in WASH programs. He has participated in international forums and workshops held in Australia, Solomon Island, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines focused on program management and development for vulnerable children and the marginalized.

Patricia Klever has worked for Lifewater International since July 1999, serving as East Africa Regional Coordinator, Director of Programs, and Partnership Development Director, and Senior Program Advisor. As Lifewater’s Senior Water and Technical Advisor, Pat supports all Lifewater programs in providing safe water to vulnerable children and families by providing technical support and training related to hardware. She has managed WASH Programs under the Millennium Water Alliance with USAID in Kenya and Ethiopia, and with the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation in Ethiopia. Pat’s hold a B.S. in Earth Sciences and an M.S. in Natural Resource Management. She is a registered Professional Geologist (P.G. #2640 Wyoming).

Sada Andrews started with Lifewater in February 2007 with a background in international development and human rights, including experience in Africa, South Asia, and Eastern Europe. A practicing attorney, Sada is passionate about global justice and has taught International Relations and Law at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. As Senior Advocate at Lifewater, she uses her international experience and enthusiasm for sustainable development to get as many people as possible involved in building up communities around the world. Sada holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Studies from Gordon College, a J.D. from William & Mary, and an LL.M. in Human Rights Law from the University of London.

As the Vice President of Philanthropy, Christine Zurbach is responsible for leading the recruitment of the human and material resources necessary for this work to happen. Since coming in 2011, Christine has recruited, trained, and managed over 200 active volunteers trained in water, sanitation, and hygiene, conducted Lifewater community development and WASH training courses in the US, Africa, and Asia, and directed the Office of the President. Christine has eight years of overseas experience working with nationals and volunteers in humanitarian aid efforts in Ukraine. She holds a B.A in English Literature from California Polytechnic State University.

Staci Pham started her global health career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zambia. She holds a BS in Human Services from California State Fullerton and an MPH from Loma Linda University. During graduate school, Staci was part of a team that conducted a comprehensive assessment on maternal child health in Cavite, Philippines. She later worked in South Sudan as a Technical Advisor to the Guinea worm disease eradication program, then as a Program Manager for Malaria Consortium. Staci brings a unique perspective to Lifewater, having experienced firsthand how access to clean water and sanitation facilities can have a profound impact on a person’s life. As WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Program Officer, Staci monitors programs to track progress, analyze data and build the capacity of field staff and community leaders.

As an Investor Relations Manager, Sean Martin serves, supports, and encourages those who give faithfully to Lifewater. He also spreads the word about our ministry through regional events up and down the West Coast. Sean joined the Lifewater team in January 2017 after twenty years in church ministry. He has served congregations in California, Washington, and Idaho as a Lead Pastor, Youth Pastor, and Missions Pastor. Sean lives in Idaho with his wife, Hollyn, and their three kids, Joey, Michael and Annie.

Tim serves as the Assistant Global Controller at Lifewater International. He is responsible for managing and monitoring the financial operations for all Lifewater locations. Tim’s experience prior to joining the Lifewater team in 2016 includes both private and public accounting. He is a licensed CPA with the State of California and earned his BS in Business Accounting from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Tim is excited to be serving with the Lifewater team to end the global water and sanitation crisis.

Loy Mwanjuzi is Lifewater’s Regional Program Manager for the Kaliro, Uganda Field Office. Loy has over 10 years of experience leading and managing rural WASH and community development programs in Uganda. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts with Education from the Makerere University in Kampala, Loy went on to receive post-graduate diplomas in Monitoring and Evaluation from Uganda Management Institute, Project Planning and Management from Busoga University, and Human Resource Management from Uganda Management Institute. Loy is passionate about respectfully walking alongside vulnerable communities to realize the gifts, talents, and resources God has given them to become healthy and thrive.

As the Vice President of Global Programs, Dr. Pamela Crane-Hoover is responsible for the successful implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene programs in rural communities. Pamela joined Lifewater in 2013, following 10 years of experience in community water development and research in developing countries, with a particular focus in Africa. Pamela holds a BS in Environmental Biology from Taylor University, a MS in Environmental Geology, and a PhD in Water Resources, both from the University of Notre Dame. Pamela serves on the Accord Network’s WASH Alliance Steering Committee. Her passion for water development began at an early age, during her childhood in the Middle East and South Pacific, where safe water was never guaranteed.

Teshale joined Lifewater in October 2015 with an experience of 20 years in development work. He has served as an Agriculture Section leader, Project Manager, Program Officer, and WASH Team leader for programs run by the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus – Development and Social Services Commission ( DASSC). Alex Muhumuza Mbaguta provides leadership and oversees overall operations of Lifewater programs in Uganda. He has extensive experience spanning over 15 years working for several international and national NGOs. Before joining Lifewater, Alex directed and managed WASH programs for other organizations, including Uganda Water and Sanitation NGO Network (UWASNET), a national umbrella network of over 200 WASH NGOs in the Ugandan WASH Sector. Alex holds a Masters Degree in Development Studies from DSC, Dublin, Ireland, and an M.A in Public Administration and Management from Makerere University, and a B.A. in Social Sciences from Makerere University.

Justin is the fifth President/CEO of Lifewater International, the oldest Christian WASH organization in North America. Prior to leading Lifewater, Justin served as a Vice President of an Africa-based ministry that worked with local churches to meet physical and spiritual needs of street children and slum dwellers. He has an MBA in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management and worked for The Boeing Company in its international business unit prior to transitioning to Christian community development work in 2007.

Lindsay Lange is responsible for ensuring the quality of Lifewater programs through monitoring and evaluation, training, and applying learning into standard operating procedures. Lindsay served with Lifewater from 2007 to 2009 and rejoined the team in 2014. Lindsay holds a BA in Political Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and an MS in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her expertise and experience on many types of global health programs, include water and sanitation, maternal and child health, and humanitarian response. As the mother of two young boys, she wants to see every child grow up healthy and free from preventable disease. Lindsay believes good intentions are not enough, and she is passionate about using data to make Lifewater programs as effective as possible.

Zerihun joined Lifewater in June 2010 following over 20 years of development experience. He’s served as a Project Manager, Development Department Director, and Socio-economic Program Coordinator at regional and national levels with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus — Development and Social Services Commission (DASSC). Abate brings more than 20 years experience working with governments and non-government organizations to Lifewater, including nearly a decade of WASH experience with the Norwegian Lutheran Mission and their partners. Throughout his career he has served as a WASH Project Manager, Renewable Energy Project Manager and as Head of Agriculture and Natural Resource & Rural Land Management in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Regional State.
Abate has an engineering degree and an MS in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development from Haramaya University. He is married with two daughters.

Amie began her involvement with water crisis development work and advocacy as a volunteer in 2007. By early 2009, Amie had co-founded Activewater with a friend and fellow campaigner, Daren Wendell. Since that time, Amie has led both awareness and fundraising campaigns within schools, churches, city events, music festivals, conferences, and various major athletic events. She has also recruited, trained, and equipped volunteers through online communities to respond to the water crisis in their own creative ways, utilizing their unique passions and gifts. Amie holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University and has over a decade of experience working with children and teenagers of every age not only through tutoring and teaching, but also serving as a volunteer youth director within her church.

Daren is a co-founder of Activewater. An accomplished public speaker, Daren regularly shares about the global water and sanitation crisis at conferences, churches, youth groups, schools, and small businesses. Some of his athletic accomplishments and personal campaigns to raise money for safe water include walking 3,400 miles of the United States, cycling 4,400 miles from Oregon to Virginia, competing in several marathons and ironman events, swimming 50.6 non-stop miles across Lake Michigan in under 35 hours, and most recently, running 100 marathons in 100 days across the United States. He holds a B.A. in Youth and Family Ministries from Kentucky Christian University.

Douglas Headrick began serving with Lifewater as a volunteer in 2003. He has been trained and certified in WASH programs, often traveling to developing countries to train nationals in various aspects of clean water and sanitation practices. Douglas has a BS and MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA in Finance from California State University, San Bernardino. He is a registered Professional Civil Engineer and currently is serving as the General Manager of the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District, a regional water resource agency in Southern California. He is a committed Christian who currently serves on the Elder Board of the First Baptist Church of Yucaipa and is President of the Foundation at First. He is married and has 2 daughters. He is honored to be able to serve on the Board of Lifewater International.

After serving nearly two decades as a judge in the state of Illinois, Karen retired to the Northwoods of Wisconsin. An active Lifewater volunteer since 2008, her passion for justice and desire to further God’s kingdom can be seen in her care for underserved and vulnerable communities around the world. Throughout more than 20 training trips, Karen has witnessed firsthand the importance and effectiveness of introducing WASH concepts house by house, school by school, and village by village. When she’s not active in the field, Karen enjoys fishing, kayaking, singing in the church choir and renovating her log cabin.

Harold Harrington believes that water is one of life’s most basic needs, and all people should bear responsibility in providing it to those who need it most. He was exposed to the water crisis firsthand in 2009 while serving on a mission trip in Honduras. Two years later, he joined Activewater’s Board of Directors as Treasurer and later served as the board’s Vice President until Activewater merged with Lifewater International in 2014.

He has a bachelor’s degree in finance from Michigan State University. Throughout his professional career, Harold has worked in the industrial manufacturing and medical technology fields in finance and operations positions. Currently, he directs and manages a legal operations department for a medical device manufacturer.

Harold and his wife, Marissa, have two young children. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, cooking, traveling, and sharing meaningful experiences with his family and church.

Over a decade ago, Jake made a personal resolution to give and mobilize resources to care for the poor, the oppressed and the unreached during his lifetime.  An active Lifewater donor since 2013, he’s both inspired and motivated at how his personal commitment aligns with Lifewater’s work around the world. Jake has owned and operated a State Farm Insurance Agency based in San Francisco since 2006 and has been recognized both company and industry wide as a top agent in California. He and his wife Erin have three young children, with whom he enjoys travel, camping and creating meaningful memories.

For more than 15 years, Justin Ahrens has led Rule29, an award-winning strategic creative firm, in the studio’s commitment to “Making Creative Matter®.” By building a team of deeply unique and skilled designers, writers, strategists, and storytellers, Justin has created a group of people devoted to transforming communication for their clients.

As a vocal enthusiast for design’s ability to create positive social change, Justin’s design for good initiative has placed a strong focus on using Rule29’s capabilities to maximize the efforts of those desiring to help make the world a better place. More personally, he has seen the potential for social activism to create a new kind of company culture driven by compassion as demonstrated by Wheels4Water, a cycling project bringing clean water to people in need.

He is a frequent speaker, teacher, and writer for various blogs and is also an advocate for balancing life and career as evidenced by his book, Life Kerning: Creative Ways to Fine Tune Your Perspective on Career and Life.

Dave LeVan is a committed Christian, husband and father. He is passionate about bringing hope and transformation to the disadvantaged. He is an experienced entrepreneur, speaker and advisor. Dave serves as a Senior Director with Walmart. His prior work experience includes Advantax, a consulting firm he founded, Kraft Foods, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Dave created Harriette’s Song, a charitable foundation focused on serving children in need, and helped establish Serve the World, an initiative through his church to identify, evaluate and fund charitable projects locally and globally. He serves on the Board of John Brown University and the Institute for Professionals in Taxation. He received a BS in Mathematics from John Brown University and an MBA in Finance from DePaul University.
