Donor Advised Funds

A simple and tax-efficient way to give to your favorite charitable organizations

Benefits of Donor Advised Funds (DAF)

A donor advised fund is like a savings account for your charitable giving. It allows you to make a gift that is immediately tax deductible, but you still have the flexibility to recommend when and to which charity the gift is made.

You can transfer property or cash to a tax-exempt sponsoring organization like a public foundation, which works with you to grant money to charities you recommend.

Opening a DAF

  1. Contact a tax-exempt organization that sponsors donor advised funds to open an account. If you would like recommendations for an organization that sponsors donor advised funds, please contact Christine Zurbach at czurbach@lifewater.org

benefits of donor advised funds

“A donor advised fund allows you to make a gift that is immediately tax deductible, but you still have the flexibility to recommend when and how the gift is used. Your gift is invested with other funds, which can allow the size of your gift to grow over time.”
