Lifewater Legacy Curriculum: Latrine Design and Construction

Latrine Design and Construction looks at the basic principles for designing culturally-appropriate latrines in rural communities. The training covers different types of latrines such as simple pit latrines to arbor loos, and how to design for people with special needs. Other aspects of latrine design this manual teaches include siting guidelines given different soil types and terrain, and construction of the pit, different types of slabs, and the superstructure.

Impact Report: Oromiya, Ethiopia

Impact Report: Mtito Andei, Kenya

The Clean Water Project in Mtito Andei, Kenya was designed to bring safe drinking water supplies to ten primary schools, along with ventilated improved pit (VIP) latrines for boys and girls. Increased access to safe water and latrines at primary schools helped transform the lives of 5,700 students and their teachers. This impact report details results.

Impact Report: Agali, Uganda

In July 2012, Project Restoring Dignity began, a one-year program to transform the health and well-being of 25,000 vulnerable children and families in war torn northern Uganda through comprehensive WASH initiatives. Through your generous support, over 15,500 people were served with safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, increasing safe water access to nearly 89% of the population.

Impact Report: Northern Uganda

In July 2009, Project Restoring Hope began, a three-year program aimed at increasing access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in war-torn northern Uganda.
